GCI is dedicated to fighting homelessness and addiction within the veteran community.
This corporation is a nonprofit public benefit corporation and is not organized for the private gain of any person. It is organized under the Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation Law for charitable purposes. The specific purposes for which this corporation is organized are the purpose of improving the quality of lives of disabled Veterans affected by homelessness, physical and mental disabilities, and alcohol and drug abuse through the development of stable, sound, independent housing and support with community linkages.
GCI is currently seeking affordable single and multifamily dwellings for lease to non-profit corporations, service organizations, corporations and individuals to service the special needs populations including but not limited to Veterans and Service Disabled Veterans.
The organizers of GCI are developing Sierra Safe Passage specifically for Veterans and Service Disabled Veterans only. The non-profit will be seeking its federal funding from the VA only, and its private funding from corporations and individuals for Rental Assistance, Retro-Fit and Property Maintenance funds.
- “Sierra Safe Passage” is currently being formed as a 501C3 to improve the quality of life by providing healthy, ecologically sound environments for veterans and disabled veterans affected by homelessness, physical and mental disabilities, PTSD, and alcohol and drug abuse. We believe housing is the most fundamental “building block” in anyone’s recovery; it is only through having a place in the community that one can become part of the community and feelings of isolation, hopelessness and fear can begin to be assuaged and healing begin.
- Sierra Safe Passage will offer independent living opportunities in multi-family buildings for Veterans.
- All units will be located within easy access to the Veterans services and lifestyle needs.
- All units will comply with HUD and VA Grant requirements.
- In order to service special needs populations, Sierra Safe Passage will collaborate with the community and local social service providers and professionals to provide the evaluations, case management and supportive services for the tenants as a pre-requisite for placement in Sierra Safe Passage units.
We wanted you to be informed of our ongoing efforts. In addition, we are seeking ongoing collaboration with you for direction and aid in identification of the needs of the Veteran population so that the housing we are developing and the funds we seek meet the goals of the populations and the service organizations aiding them. Please contact us for more information on how you can help or to partner with Sierra Safe Passage.
